No board deserves that kind of wax abuse - especially a triple stringer...

Hmmm. Maybe. I'll certainly admit to not thinking about the wax job too much in general. Not sure if I assign a morality to it though.

Got to agree with Anon. on this one...if I was one of the craftsmen who made that board and saw you on the beach, I'd likely smack you
Ever put the effort in to shape and glass your own? Bet you wouldn't treat it like that if you did.
"Rode hard and put away wet" only applies to horses. And a couple of women I've known.

Wow. Lotta huffin and puffin and judging books by their cover and blah blah blahing around here. I saved that beautiful Bill Hamilton triple string gem from a life of darkness, humility and delaming a number of years back. A client decided she was sick of the space her husband's board was taking up in the garage and I saved the thing, had Joey Clams fix the dings and delams and have ridden her with care (if not precision) ever since. And while I am a true believer in riding a board until it disintegrates of natural cause and a well ridden life (the due death of all living things) I shake my head at someone looking at a well worn wax job and deciding it's an opportunity to say something goofy like "lick 'er, stick 'er and send 'er on her way."
